What’s the point of all this, then?! I came out here to stand on my own, to be a hero, and— and— and they’re gonna let her out. And the bad guys win or at least don’t get punished and— and what’s the point? Los Angeles, the bodies, the stupid cat food

Forget it, Kate. It’s a metaphor.

Look: I’ve never had a job. Not a real job. Not a job my dad didn’t get me… but I’ve worked hard. I’ve worked hard for things. Harder than you’d ever believe. But I never needed a job because I never needed money until now. Look, we’re all adults here; we’ve all seen the “Welcome to the Jungle” video. I cowboyed out to Los Angeles and in the span of forty-eight hours got taken for everything I had. It’s an old story, and maybe I should’ve known better. Rookie mistake, right? But I am telling you now: I might be young, but I am good. I work hard, and I’m a good person. I know what’s right. I know what’s wrong. And if you give me this chance — if you just give me one shot to show you how good I can be, how hard I work, how much I believe in doing the right thing — I won’t let you down.

I promise.
