everything you need to know about voting: including how to vote early in 37 states and how to vote absentee

Does North Dakota have no deadline at all? Or was that an error?

Fun fact, you don’t need to register to vote in North Dakota! Instead, you simply need to meet all the voting requirements (below), and provide ID to vote on Election Day, Nov 8.

  • Be a US citizen
  • Be at least 18 years old on Election Day, Nov 8
  • Live at a North Dakota address by Oct 9

Remember that many states start voting in mid-October, every state has different Absentee Ballot processes and things may change as courts possibly invalidate restrictions on registering & voting, especially in North Carolina.

On July 29, 2016, a slew of rulings were handed down by courts across the US regarding voting restrictions – if you vote in North Carolina, Wisconsin or Kansas – or Texas whose restrictions were re-examined earlier this year – be aware that the process of registering and/or actually voting may possibly become easier if the courts rule against these intentionally discriminatory and restrictive voting laws.
