hawkeye vs deadpool – Fake Benevolence

ok but like take a minute to think about clint barton

at the end of hawkeye vs. deadpool #4, he literally goes out and scrubs blood off the sidewalk “until his fingers bleed.” he could have left that blood there, or he could have at least washed most of it away and then let the rest wash away naturally, but no. he got down on his hands and knees and scrubbed until his fingers bled. and really that added detail of his fingers bleeding is huge because he’s an archer. he’s knowingly and willingly fucking up his hands, the same hands he uses to shoot his bow and arrows, to scrub up this blood.

and the worst part of all of this is that he blames himself for the events that have taken place in hawkeye vs. deadpool. he takes on the guilt and the responsibility for everything that happens—he looks at himself as the catalyst. so to see clint on his hands and knees scrubbing up blood until his own hands bleed because he’s taking responsibility, wanting to atone, trying to wipe the red out of his own ledger is something that’s really stuck in my head since i read hawkeye vs. deadpool #4 yesterday.

clint barton’s has a heart the size of the universe and i don’t ever want to see that change.
