perpugilliam:

Let’s take a moment to talk about Tamsin Drew, tumblr. I know her time was brief, but she’s a great character, and I wish we had gotten to hear more of her.

I love that, for Tamsin, nearly being killed by a vampire is preferable to filling out more job applications (a completely understandable sentiment, if you’ve ever spent an extended time job hunting).

I love that in their first real adventure together, she manages to surprise the Doctor and best him in something. I love that even though she encounters some seriously horrific stuff (and even nearly dies), she doesn’t let it stop her from pursuing further adventures in time and space.

I love that she’s not always the quickest thinker, and that, when visiting a monastery, her best attempt at improv is pretending to be the main character from The Sound of Music.

But most of all, I love that Tamsin wants to be a force for good in the universe. I love that she wants to preserve the beauty she sees. I love that she wants to save lives. I love that she asks tough questions and pushes. I love that she trusts her own judgment, but is willing to change her mind when she discovers she’s made a mistake. And I hate her ultimate fate, because she deserved so much better.

Fact #991

classicwhofacts:

Paul McGann had to wear a wig for the TV movie. They’d done test shots with his real hair, but it was so glorious that it couldn’t be looked at even on film by mortal eyes. He had short hair in the anniversary special, because he was afraid that even with a wig he would be too beautiful for the majority of new who’s fanbase to cope with.

[Spoilers for season 4 of the Eighth Doctor Adventures.]

Susan: “I know how much Lucie meant to you.”
Doctor: “How much she means to me – time is relative, isn’t it? I am Time Lord, what does time mean to me? It’s not fixed. And our people made up all those rules and regulations, for what? How much chaos would it bring to go back and save Lucie Miller? At the point of impact, just snatch her, into the TARDIS. What would that do except save one of the noblest inhabitants of the universe?”
