#hold on let me tag meta on this scene because i love it so much #and what i love most is how emblematic it is of the doctor and rose’s relationship in this first series #she’s just proven herself so he trusts her and he tells her that piece of himself he hates and that haunts him constantly #and she’s sympathetic and asks about it and wants to help because she genuinely cares about him #and he loves her for that #but then she smells chips #and you’re reminded that even though she just helped save the world #she’s still a teenage girl who works in a shop and likes chips and that’s what makes her so extraordinary #and the doctor knows how extraordinary she is and that makes him smile #it makes him smile that somehow there’s this teenage girl who can take him from all his darkness into someplace fun and silly #and who can make him happy without even really trying#in this scene you see the doctor begin to really trust rose as the extraordinary woman she is and rose begin to really heal the doctor #and that’s what nine/rose was always about (via itsvolcanoday)
