#Brooklyn nine nine is a show #that not only has TWO Latinas in leading roles #these Latinas are nEVER portrayed in a stereotypical way #but at the same time we as an audience are reminded constantly that these are two Latinas who speak Spanish & come from Hispanic backgrounds #NOT JUST THAT #it also makes these two Latinas extremely good friends and colleagues #who have each other’s back because -and this is something the show admits- #they live in a field dominated by men #AND THEN #these Latinas are extremely badass and good at what they do and are so respected by everyone especially the show’s white leading man #and when this leading man does something disrespectful -whether racist or sexist- they call him out on it and put him in his place #AND HE LEARNS AND APOLOGIZES AND ADMITS HIS PRIVILEGE #PLEASE WATCH THIS DUMB SHOW (- @tall-butt)

“Super progressive attitude, Jake.”

I love jake so much, without watching this show nobody can understand how amazing it is to have created this perfect recipe for the fuckboy protagonist, with huge ego, stupid joke, but no. They created Peralta. Who has this huge ego, and stupid joke, but who’s a feminist, learn from his mistakes, is the BEST in friendship and developp amazing platonic relation with several girls on this show.

Jake Peralta. God.

(Kate and Clint are sitting in a bar)
Clint Barton: I gotta go.
Kate Bishop: Aren’t you forgetting something?
Clint Barton: Uh…*looks confused, then hesitantly kisses Kate’s forehead before running out.
Kate Bishop: No! Pay your bill! Damn, who raised you?

it’s great bc when you first watch brooklyn nine nine you think it’s a funny sitcom about new york cops

and instead you get some of the best racial representation in any tv show, an accurate depiction of how lgbt people and poc are treated by the police force AND how the intersectionality between the two works

the person holding arguably the most power in the show is a black man who’s openly gay but also non stereotypical

the person holding the second most power is also a black man who’s large and muscular but has a family he prioritises above all else and he’s so so gentle with his little daughters it’s amazing

it also depicts how uncomfortable and unhealthy the ‘guy has a complete infatuation for a woman who’s not interested’ dynamic is, and instead of making her realise she’s ‘wrong’ and fall for him, he instead gets over her and they actually become good friends

and the inevitable ‘will they, won’t they’ relationship develops naturally and they don’t both develop feelings for each other at the same time, and when jake realises that amy is dating another guy he’s okay with it because he knows it’s not his place to ruin that for his own feelings

basically

BROOKLYN NINE NINE UR FAVE COULD NEVER
